Infectious disease and tropical medicine doc – I would never take mefloquine. Not that it doesn't work. It's a fantastically effective drug for malaria in most parts of the world. It does, however, carry the risk of possibly permanent neuropsychiatric side effects like hallucinations, anxiety/depression, and seizures.
Noooo thanks. I'll stick with doxycycline or atovaquone-proguanil for my malaria prophylaxis.
