26 SERIOUS CANCER SURVIVORS WHEN DID YOU FIRST NOTICE SOMETHING WAS WRONG

1. operation…

Melanoma – I’m posting for my wife. We noticed a mole on her back. Went to the local doctor who whipped it off (first mistake) tests came back positive for melanoma. A year and a half later she noticed glands under her arm swollen. They removed her lymph glands and pathways to the primary. At this point she was given a 50/50 chance to live for another year. Two years later she became dysphasic and we rushed her to hospital with a massive brain tumour. Melanoma again. While in surgery I was told she would either not survive the operation or she would come out in a vegetative state. She survived the operation and was in fairly good shape as the tumour had luckily grown on an existing benign tumour!!! She had radiotherapy but given only 3 months to live. That was 23 years ago and she’s still going strong. Keep positive folks. Edit1,. Added title for easy cancer search.
Edit 2. Last year in Spain we though she had a stroke and we were understandably worried that the cancer had come back. As it happens it was a mysterious lesion on the brain stem. After MRI, CAT etc etc and huge doses of steroids the lesion disappeared. A year later she’s back to her old self. A tough old bird who I love dearly.
